I first read The Dice Man in the early 70’s.
The book immediately appealed to me. It explained many things about my life as a teenager during the 60’s. The double-standards of the “grown-ups” which convinced me never to grow up. The lapses of logic in my teachers when confronted with confounding questions. The stupidity of some of my peers. And then all the crazy things i’d done which I regretted and which sent me into bouts of deep depression. And all those things for which I could find no explanations.

I was 21 when I first got my hands on a book called The Dice Man by virtue of a gift from a friend. It was a book that caught me from the first page, introduced me to the idea of deciding one’s fate by the roll of a die, and was indirectly responsible for a friend’s unsuspecting mother encountering a certain memorable phrase involving a wet sack.
This is a wonderful site of “the German Diceman” It contains Hermann’s musings on dicing and the doing of various dicegroups in Germany.
When Ken Armstrong was eleven years old and had the flu, his mum scrounged around to give him something to read and, without looking at the book closely, gave Ken THE DICE MAN. Ken has written a delightful story about reading to his son.
Kristanna Loken has starred in many films, including “Terminator 3″, “Ring of the Nibelungs” and “Darfur,” to name just three. She is also scheduled to star as Diane in the film of “Naked Before the World,” based on Luke’s script and novel of that title.

This website was created by Paul Vincent Farrell a UK friend of Luke’s who has lived now for five years in Tokyo. He is an artist, photographer and musician who met Luke at one the the showings of “The Dicehouse” in London’s West End in 2004.
Nick Mead is Luke’s oldest UK friend. The two have collaborated on several screenplays and Nick produced and directed the film “Dicelife: The Random Mind of Luke Rhinehart.”
